The Customer Engagement and Development Division (CEDD) within the Department of Homeland Security’s Transportation Services Administration (TSA) delivers all aspects of custom application development, maintenance and support for the Office of Information Technology (OIT).

Tsymmetry manages and maintains what are referred to as the Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) tools that are designed to accelerate and streamline the delivery of new and enhanced custom application capabilities within TSA. Stationed in Springfield, VA, Tsymmetry’s team provides a spectrum of Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) services including Application Development and Testing, Program Management, Testing Automation and Support, Data Analysis and Reporting, and Quality Control.

Since assuming responsibility, Tsymmetry has implemented a robust application lifecycle management process designed to increase deployment velocity by improving all aspects of development from project inception to deployment.

According to a 2018 Contractor Performance Assessment Report (CPAR), “Tsymmetry successfully developed and implemented the HP QC/ALM Automated Test Application for the Integrated Testing Environment…non-automated IACMS testing requires an individual working 40 hours per week for 5 weeks. With automation, this testing can be completed in one day.”

Notably, Tsymmetry implemented a suite of application development and testing tools—HP’s Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) and Unified Functional Testing (UFT) tools, which are built and marketed by Micro Focus—that successfully automated 80 percent of the testing function and reduced integration test cycles from as much as five weeks to five days. Tsymmetry not only implemented the application development and testing suite, but also train and support application teams to use the tools effectively.

“Our goal is to increase the probability of success of all deployments into the production environment,” explains Jerry Shepard, Tsymmetry’s TSA/ATS Program Manager.  “We don’t hesitate to go above and beyond to get the job done.”
