Epilepsy affects over 3 million Americans and 50 million people world- wide. About one percent of Americans have some form of epilepsy, and nearly four percent (1 in 26) will develop epilepsy at some point in their lives. In the US, Epilepsy research and support is historically underfunded, currently receiving 1/2 of 1% of NIH spending. Tsymmetry selected the Epilepsy Foundation as its principle charitable organization for 2016, providing our employees and their colleagues opportunities to raise funds and participate in events designed to increase awareness and support for the cause.
To date, Tsymmetry has participated in two key events. On February 15th, members of the Tsymmetry DoS INL/A team gathered in Satellite Beach, Florida to participate in Cruise for a Cure, a poker run benefiting the Epilepsy Foundation. The group traveled by car and motorcycle to four locations, raising money and good cheer. On April 16th, Tsymmetry staff, family and friends in the National Capital Region gathered for the 10th Annual National Walk for Epilepsy, where the team completed a 5k walk along with 5,000 other participants. Our team raised over $8,000 and the walk as a whole exceeded its goal of $1 million in donations.
Thanks to all who supported these events.
